Frequently Asked Questions

Beginning counselling or exploring wellness services can bring up many questions. This page is designed to provide clarity on what to expect, how services work, and how to get started. If you have additional questions, you are always welcome to reach out.

Getting Started

Do you offer consultation?

Yes, we offer complimentary 15-minute consultations. If you would like to connect before booking a full session, you are welcome to reach out to discuss your needs and determine whether services are a good fit.

What happens in the first session?

The first session is focused on understanding what brings you to therapy, your goals, and any relevant background. Together we go through a client intake form (see PDF) to discuss policies and lay the foundation for your goals in seeking support. We move at your pace and begin to explore patterns, challenges, and what you’re hoping to change, while also outlining how we can work together moving forward.

How do I know if this is the right fit?

Fit is an important part of the process. The consultation and initial sessions give you a sense of our approach, pace, and style. We encourage you to notice whether you feel comfortable, understood, and supported in the space.

Approach & Services

What is your approach to therapy?

Our approach is client-centered and grounded in the mind-body connection. We focus on building psychological flexibility, increasing self-awareness, and helping you respond more effectively to thoughts, emotions, and patterns that may be keeping you stuck.

What types of therapy do you use?

We integrate Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), alongside mindfulness, breathwork, and somatic practices to support both insight and emotional regulation tailoring the approach to meet your needs.

Do you incorporate mindfulness or yoga into sessions?

Yes, when appropriate, we incorporate mindfulness, breathwork, and yoga-informed techniques to support nervous system regulation and deepen awareness. These approaches are always introduced in a practical, accessible way and tailored to your comfort level.

Do I need experience with mindfulness or yoga?

Not at all. No prior experience is needed. These approaches are introduced gradually and adapted to each client, with a focus on what feels supportive and manageable.

Client Experience & Fit

Who do you typically work with?

We work with individuals experiencing anxiety, stress, burnout, overthinking, and those navigating life transitions including but not limited to loss, relationship challenges, change in career, parenthood, etc. Many clients are high-functioning but feel overwhelmed, disconnected, or stuck, and are looking for deeper insight and lasting change.

What is a typical session like?

Sessions are collaborative and paced to your comfort level. We integrate conversation with mindfulness and somatic awareness to build insight, support emotional regulation, and develop practical tools for change.

How long does therapy usually take?

This varies depending on your goals and what you’re working through. Some clients benefit from short-term, solution-focused work, while others engage in longer-term therapy to support deeper change.
